More apps is not better

Having lots of apps to choose from is good, but acquiring more apps is not necessarily better. Every application you use requires some learning and overhead. I suggest using the minimum number of apps to handle all of the different types of information you use the majority of the time. My current favorites are:

To be sure, I have many more apps, but 80+ percent of my information needs are satisfied with one or more of the above.

A significant area that I haven’t settled is document creation and storage when Evernote won’t do. Documents that require more than basic formatting, like newsletters, presentations & spreadsheets are examples. I have used Microsoft Office close to forever. But because I use & support multiple platforms, the choice is not black & white. The related question of where to store those documents is also unanswered. Options include Google Drive, DropBox, SugarSync and the rapidly growing number of other cloud storage offerings. More on both of these questions later.
