email to Evernote

It is pretty easy to copy and paste information into Evernote, but as it becomes a repository for more and more stuff, shortcuts are handy. When you setup your Evernote account, a special email address was set up for you to use. In case you missed that notice,
you can get the address in your account profile. From the Windows Desktop app, you can find the email address from the menu Tools > Account info.

The email address will be hard to remember so I just add a contact with the name “Henry Evernote.” By forwarding an email to that address, it will appear in my default notebook the next time Evernote synchronizes. Later you can go to that notebook and clean things up, by putting it in the correct notebook, and assigning tags… OR you can do it all at once.

The email subject becomes the note title. By appending @notebook_name the note goes to the proper notebook and #tag1 #tag2 will add tags. Voila – no clean up necessary! So the subject line would have this format:

Email Subject @Notebook_name #tag1 #tag2
